About Us
RUN FOR WOUNDED WARRIORS
Run for Wounded Warriors, Inc. is a non-profit organization established to host a 10K and 5K race to raise funds for the Wounded Warrior Project. It is the inspiration of then 17 year-old Jonathan Borden who saw several biographies about severely wounded service men and women, on Memorial Day 2009 on the Military Channel. The bios were produced by the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) to raise awareness of these severely wounded heroes.
The WWP is a non-profit organization that helps those service members. Their mission is:
- To raise awareness and enlist the public’s aid for the needs of and women,
- To help severely injured service members aid and assist each other,
- To provide unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of severely injured service members.
The ways that the WWP works to help these severely injured heroes is by:
- Ensuring they have quality healthcare for the full range of their injuries for the duration of their lives,
- Ensuring that these wounded warriors have full access to all benefits and compensation programs to which they are entitled,
- Easing the financial and emotional stress of the families of these severely wounded warriors,
- Identifying and creating new programs to meet the needs of these service members.
Run for Wounded Warriors is helping the Wounded Warrior Project by establishing an annual 5K and 1-mile Fun Run race. This race is a qualifier for the annual Peachtree Road Race. The first race was held on June 5, 2010, in the city of Marietta, Georgia. Registration can be completed through Active.com. In order for Run for Wounded Warriors to help the Wounded Warrior Project, we need your help. We are asking you to sponsor us in hosting this race. Your sponsorship can be in the form of financial support or in-kind donation. We also ask that you encourage all those interested to register for the race.
You may also support the Wounded Warrior Project by purchasing the WWP Transitional Care Pack, which is given to the wounded service member on the battlefield, or the WWP Backpack, presented to them in the military trauma centers. Both contain essential care and comfort items designed to make their hospital stay more comfortable.
We trust that you will help us accomplish what we believe to be a life changing event. As one of our sponsors we will display your business on all announcements and advertising for this race. We will display any banners you give us at the start/finish line, and you will be included on the race T-shirt. We have applied for 501(c)(3) status as a not-for-profit organization.
Please visit WWP’s website, www.woundedwarriorproject.org. We believe that these brave men and women deserve all of the support that we can give them. Please join us in this patriotic enterprise by being a sponsor.
